We’ll be open again on the 7th of January.

Merry Christmas!

There will be a busy bee on the 7th of November at the Bike Coop from 10-12pm. We’ll be stripping down bikes and tinkering around. Doesn’t matter if you don’t know much about bikes, just come on down.  There’ll be a BBQ afterwards as well too.

We have a two ladies bikes and three mens road bikes.

We’re too popular for our own good!

Please be patient if you want a bike. Be prepared to drop-in multiple times to find something that suits you.

Just a reminder that we’re open Tuesday nights once a fortnight. The next one will be the 21st of August, 5.30-7pm. Come on down and keep Nic company.

Cheers, Verity

The Co-op is now selling some bicycle accessories on behalf of ANUgreen. They’re subsidised equipment and sold at cost price.

We are now selling;

Helmets                         $35
Lights                            $30
Locks                           $25
Cycle Maps                  $3
Puncture Repair Kits     $10
Inner tube                     $7

The Bike Coop is now open once a fortnight on Tuesday nighs from 5.30-7pm. This starts as of tomorrow, the 10th of July.

Nic, aka Limp Jimmy, will be volunteering down there.

If you work 9-5 please take this opportunity to check out the Coop and see how you can help (we’ve got lots of stuff to do down there at the moment) or just to look for a bike you want to take home and call your own.

From:  Chris Mill
Attack on bike path near Lyneham – but keep in
perspective compared to riding on the road [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]

I would like to make other cyclists aware of an incident that occurred
on my ride home Tue (15/5) night just before 8pm.

Three guys had placed or thrown large sticks on to the bike path going
through Lyneham. They then proceeded to throw large sticks at me as I
slowed down – I got a good wack on my elbow. They were very threatening
and aggressive.

Another guy, about 5 minutes after me, ended up with cuts on his arms
and was very disoriented. Coming from the south it was just before the
turn off to Lyneham shops on the left (west) hand side. I have reported
to the incident to the police and asked them to contact me with the
outcome of any findings in the area.

Keep this in perspective. Over the last six years I have ridden bike
paths five or six times a week and this is only the second time I have
been threatened. Compare this to road riding where most weeks you see
motorists do something stupid or threatening that could endanger
cyclists and other road users.

Maybe be cautious about slowing down in dark bike paths at night if they
have lots of sticks on them!

The ANU Bike Co-op is a not for profit organisation and is volunteer run. If you can help out at all (with anything!) please either drop in or contact me, Verity, at anubicyclecooperative@gmail.com.

See the Volunteering page for more details

Would anyone be able to open the Co-op for a couple of hours (say 5.30-7pm) one night a week or once a fortnight?

This way we could let people who work full time get involved.

If anyone can help just email me, anubicyclecooperative@gmail.com
